Good grief. I just had a stick of ECC RAM go bad in my NAS. That single stick of RAM cost 4X what I paid for it 3 yrs ago. Until the replacement arrives I’m operating on half the RAM.

Our neighbor alerted us to the fact that their twin boys were having a water-themed birthday bash at their house today. She wanted us to be forewarned about the squeeling and hollering that would ensue. I just looked out the window and saw Slip-n-Slides set up on their hill and little boys chasing each other with squirt guns. Pure joy.

Imagine having a government that supports solar to the point that electricity becomes free.

Here in the US power companies would use our taxes to deploy solar only to charge their customers the same pre-solar rate for power. Because capitalism.

Well we lucked out with the car and the rock damage. As expected we need a new oil pan but we also need a new oil pressure sensor. It’ll come to about $2000. It could have been so much worse but still, I sure wish I could make whoever dropped the rock pay for it.

This was particularly frightening after a local celebrity was killed recently when a tire came loose from a vehicle, bounced and went through his windshield. It’s so important to not allow yourself to get distracted on the highway. If we had been distracted trying to get our nav to provide directions the outcome might have been different.

Yesterday, on our way to a restaurant, a 6-7” chunk of concrete came bouncing down the highway toward our car. We both prepared to duck but the rock thankfully went under the car with a big THUD, THUD, THUD. Barely enough time elapsed for me to commented, “oh, I hope it didn’t hit the oil pan”, when a huge alert popped up, “TURN ENGINE OFF NOW!”
