your "good old times when the internet was awesome and great code was written" are my "ultra-sexist assholes on the internet and being asked at great code events who my boyfriend is" times.
maybe a little less reminiscing and a bit more reflection
isn't getting away from rms reason enough for human-emacs usage why wait for an AI policy
insurance sending me a letter on paper with a bar code to scan to inform me about something instead of just sending me the information IN THE FREAKIN' LETTER THEY SEND ME
new york has mamdani and my best case scenario is giffey again "yay" #berlin
instead of AI I want:
* silent ventilators
* self-cleaning toilets
* de-dusting even the smallest corner with one button-press
* auto-sorting paperwork incl. taxes
* serious noise cancelling of neighbors
* door-to-door public transport mini shuttle bus style and no private cars in the city
* 1920ies berlin restaurant/cafe house opening hours to never have to cook again
* parks with park benches
lesson learned: I won't survive IT much longer as I have failed for over an hour to re-set up fucking phone banking but ok I hate banks anyways
imagine a different trajectory of LLMs like in support of science and with radical opt-in for all the training materials and using green data centers all the way and first have invested into local and small models and just a pinch of better critical thinking and god forbid maybe even international collaboration and just skipping repeating history...
this is a choice we didn't make and I'm sure the reason is the distinct anti-science and anti-intellectual direction countries are taking
let's assume for a second that LLMs will actually stay, get good and turn out to be really useful and that this is the beginning of a next industrial revolution..
does anybody remember what the beginning of the first one had cost us? in nature destruction, pollution, in human death and sickness not to mention war?
and then it took 50 years to fight for basic labour regulation, for not sending children to the mines and another 150 years to come almost to our senses and start cleaning this up?
