Imagery and track names rule too. Think he gets some heat these days for being a bit of a nazi 🫣

Let’s say I’m playing a melody (4-5 notes) and I want to put it in key, I just start it with that note basically?

I used to think that but it's not quite that simple. It actually involves music theory, which i know pretty much, zero about. The only reason I'm able to do it, is that in Ableton, you can set a scale and it will highlight all notes that are in the key you've chosen, so playing any of them notes, means it's in that key. It does actually give your track a more harmonious, cohesive feel, if you're able to do this. While it doesn't matter greatly with the kind of stuff I make, I still like to do it now. It's very important if you're making melodic stuff, though.

I usually always use the same notes, harmonies in a melodic lead, pads and bass of a melodic track. I’ll add in a scale next time I do one of those
