**UNPOPULAR OPINION**

IF we were to hyperbitcoinize and Bitcoin became the only form of serious money, it would be EASIER for governments to exert control and manipulate the system back under the veneer of a decentralized currency.

Consider that on the path toward hyperbitcoinization more and more BTC will be held in the hands of cucked elites that if push came to shove would yield to State demands and hard fork the protocol in practically whatever way the State wants. Failure to comply would result in significant loss of value with customer holdings, which would be counter to the fiduciary responsibility of hedge funds. Being such significant holders of BTC, hedge funds would sell off the non-OFAC compliant fork thereby tanking the price of the REAL Bitcoin; only the hardest of Bitcoiners would be able to stomach such a downturn. It is here where other [bleech] cryptos work to distract the old money elite from ever being able to pile exclusively into BTC. The fiat mentality is to "diversify" meaning XRP, ETH, SOL and whatever other shitcoin that promises quirky new features could be a viable investment...they simply dont know any better.

And so it is: the shitcoins protect Bitcoin from a State-sanctioned attack since with the hedge funds capital divided, less of it would be solely in Bitcoin. This limits the degree to which hedge funds could drive down the price in such a way to convert people that should know better but simply cant hold onto a coin in freefall.

What do people here think of reappropriating the Twitter Egg and rebranding it a Nostrich Egg? The egg was/is a powerful meme, Twitter's first and one that still burns in the hearts of many. People identified with The Egg as a symbol of freedom to express oneself as one wanted to be heard.

Others may have treated it as a badge of being a newcomer to the space; a sign that said, "Hey, I'm new here, and I haven't quite figured out the ropes yet."

We all come from Eggs; I'm sure many would relish the opportunity to return to one.

If we want Nostr to truly protect privacy and resist censorship—like when X faced a government ban—we need to stop relying on relays with known IPs or domain names. We need encrypted traffic betw...

The best solution I can see for practically everything you mention is Namecoin/BitDNS for Nostr names (xxxxx.bit). The protocol is under-utilitized but this is a blessing since it reduces the load clients and relays need to run. If clients packaged a light node with their offering and relays ran full nodes (~6.8Gb), Nostr would simultaneously get a global consensus mechanism for:

i) Human readable/uncensorable names
ii) Proof-of-Work attached to those names (reducing the potential for spambots to operate without cost)
iii) Ability to register names anonymously
iv) Deep integrations with Tor for both domains and TLS
v) A key management system so users can have different keys sign different notes (and avoid burning your nsec)

and

vi) A far better way to discover and build a social graph than Web of Trust can ever provide on its own

Yes, there's a shitcoin attached to it but the relays could handle everything to do with that so that users wouldnt be encumbered by another token (ie. paying for name operations in sats to relays). So think of it like a shitcoin without shitcoinery.

Namecoin is a serious project with significant miner support (~400ExaHash/s). It has kept current with its development despite a severe lack of interest/funding.

Maybe its time Bitcoin embrace its younger brother?

Isn't NWS (Nostr Web Services) developing an alternative to DNS?🤔

Does someone out there know if Primal supports the ability to use a separate signing program for actually writing notes? (I know it supports payment like zaps)

I want Primal to be able to communicate with BitDNS to be able to add cryptographically unique, censorship-resistant human readable names to Nostr but to gain real traction with such a standard our largest client would need to be able to support this functionality

So now with this new wave of users piling in after the Durov takedown, isn’t it about time we were all equipped with unique, human readable, cryptographically secured identities? NIP-05 is great n’all but the censorship can always happen at the ICANN level there.

Nymble has bolted BitDNS(ie. Namecoin) onto its Nostr client. Having a global consensus layer on top of Nostr could prove useful for other applications in the near future and it doesn’t mean sacrificing anything in terms of weight; Namecoin is incredibly light.

The demonization of the productive class by the left in the US is sickening. It’ll start with taxes on unrealized gains, escalate to overt asset confiscation and ultimately physical harm against tho...

Why fret, really?

If Kamala gets in and institutes these measures, it wont change anything.

High net-worth individuals wont be handing over 25% in unrealized gains. What will happen is it will galvanize those elite to build out infrastructure to help shelter wealth away from the State.

This helps expedite Bitcoin's winning...

can anyone tell me what language Primal is written in? I'd like to fork it and build out some additional functionality

If you can't figure this out, you're probably not going to be able to do what you want to do. Offense intended. GM and GFY.
