Surviving Tennessee's Snowmageddon 2026

The 2026 Tennessee Winter Snowmageddon was wild! Lots of snow, sleet, ice (lots of ice), super low temperatures, trees down everywhere, power out everywhere, impassable roads...and all for a week...plus! Surviving it wasn't as bad as it could have been for us, however. We never lost power. So Emily could spend all her time tracking the status of all the kids. She was also able to help little Samson navigate the ice during his busy bathroom schedule. I had the first world problem of too much glare from the snow coming in my office window. So, it was tough sledding for us! See what I did there?!?

Will They Crank? Moped and Antique John Deere Tractor (DeanoFarms)

When you have stuff with pistons in them that need to be hand cranked, you often ask...Will They Crank? Max bought a Suzuki FA50 moped. It was just like the one we used to ride at Pipa's house when I was growing up. Seeing his 190+ pounds self riding his 2.5-horsepower "hog" was very funny! Then I accidentally left gas in the old antique John Deere tractor for a couple of years (oops). On top of that, I haven't tried to start it myself in over a year. You bet I was asking Will It Crank? Did it? Three grown Dean men tried to find out!

DEANO Farms - FINALE - Getting The Farm Ready To Sell

Red Ryder Farms is for sale. I had many a fun, relaxing, peaceful day on our little pile of dirt. As I was getting it ready to list, I got to the point where I didn't even want to sell it. But, with a historic home in the mix, I don't need an extra to-do list (she keeps me busy enough...LOL). I'm still gonna do 'farm-like activities' just at our house in town. Trading 10+ acres for 1+ acres. It'll be more than enough to do what I want to do. So DeanoFarms will be a little different going forward (still no glyphosate though)!

Well…Red Ryder Farm is live.

I’ve had so much fun playing farmer/country boy with this property. But life took us in a different direction. We are now nestled closer to town in our old historic home, and she needs lots of attention. I suspect she even gets jealous when I leave for the farm. LOL

So now someone else has got to own this beautiful property.

• 10+ acres
• 5,000 sq ft metal building (with finished space, bathrooms, septic system)
• Great blend of pasture and hardwoods
• McEwen, TN (Humphreys County)

If you know someone looking for property to build a home, have a barndominium, or a mini farm/homestead, this little property would be a great fit. Feel free to share the link below so they can reach out to our agent, Jake Moore.

Sideyard (Phase 2) - The Structure - This Old Dean House

The second phase of our sideyard project is now in place. The structure is built. My favorite part of this project is that I didn't have to do any of it! I also had a birds-eye view of it as I got to watch it outside my office window. I was a lot warmer than Jacob was during this construction! LOL

Best State Parks In Tennessee (Best of Tennessee)

A few years ago, we set out in our RV (as new RVers) to visit all the state parks in TN. We did that (all 58 of them at that time).

Along the way, we did a lot of RV trailer camping, tent camping, hiking, biking, kayaking, cave exploring, and learning about history. We visited great towns and ate great food (and lots of ice cream and hot fudge cakes) all along the way.

Emily and I sat down to create a top 10 list to see which ones we liked the best.

This Old Dean House - One Year Renovation Anniversary

As I finished up the steps in the foyer, I realized that it had been exactly one year since we closed on the house. I had ripped the carpet off those steps the very first day. Exactly one year later, I was reinstalling the last spindle on the completed steps. The past year has been busy, and we've made great progress on restoring the 135-year-old lady to get her ready for another 100+ years. What a fun project and what great people we've met along the way!

Refinishing The Staircase - This Old Dean House

The first thing we did when we bought the house was rip the carpet off the steps to see what we had. We had something, but it was under layers of paint. So, hard to know what. Refinishing the hardwood floors in the entire house took a lot out of us, and we abandoned refinishing the steps. After a long break, we got going again and finished them up. So, the first project we started turned into the last major project we completed.

Updated Channel Banner For DeanoRolls YouTube Channel

We've been "Collecting Experiences" on my YouTube channel for the past 6 years! We've done a lot of RV travel, along with some antique vehicle restorations and old house renovations mixed in. For the 2026 "season," the plan is to stop working on This Old Dean House, retire Emily, and get back to travelling. It is time to knock out all the National Parks. So, follow along to see where DeanoRolls!

Guest Bath Renovation - This Old Dean House

To repipe the house, I had to rip out the guest bathroom floor (which was going to come out anyway). Then the ceiling had to be removed (because the roof was leaking). After all the demolition and repairs happened, it could all be put back together again. Once that started, I was given a deadline by the kids (the guest in the guest bathroom) to get it done by Christmas. Mission Accomplished. We don't even know what to do without a tub, sink, and toilet sitting in our hallway anymore!

Walnut Farming On Walnut Street (DeanoFarms)

Sometimes, rather than doing anything on my long to-do list, I'll make up a new project and spend an entire day messing around. Tennessee presented me with a gorgeous fall afternoon, and I spent it outside with my brain turned off, harvesting my walnuts...and coming up with all kinds of crude 'nuts' jokes. Perfect!
