It was interesting to watch people walk by, glance at the store window, and ignore the painting entirely. They all looked like tourists. In contrast, the person who noticed the painting at a glance ignored the shop’s existence and turns out wasn’t a tourist.
In that moment, I immediately understood that the whole event made perfect sense.
This bear market served as a reminder that Bitcoin’s volatility scares away the tourists. Volatility is what protects us from those who already have too much to accumulating even more. It is Satoshi’s gift to the faithful.
Tourists only want to consume and go back home for comfort while we're all surviving. Bitcoin is not a place for tourists. It is a place where conviction is rewarded over the long term. It is a place for those who still have hope in the world we live in.
