I think I see the Pubky app itself as a first iteration of the idea. Like Damus was to Primal (perhaps that's a bad example)? Someone else could build a better version of it on top of the concept right?

It's the DHT implementation that I think is the important part. And there appear to be many different use cases for it. It's just that - like you said - there's no traction and no one seems to be using/building on it.

I believe it's genuinely a more censorship-resistant protocol than Nostr... but yes, the reason I'm here using Nostr as replacement for X/Twitter instead of Pubky is the traction problem. That could change given enough time.

All good John - just asking questions and weighing everything up, filtering it etc. I've never been REKT thankfully - mostly because I do just that... ask a lot of questions and listen to a lot of perspectives from people I trust - you and Laser being 2 of them.

Sometimes I make assumptions which are incorrect, as we all do. I will reassess my perspective on Tether. I really like Pubky, I've been using it and will continue to do so.

Thanks John - I think I'm just a bit nervous around Synonym's Tether connection. I think others are too. I know you've said you think Paolo Ardoino is a good guy... I'm just not technical enough to understand if what you're building with their backing is the real deal or not. I really want it to be. Still in the process of testing it out myself and have even tried building a couple of personal projects with Pubky which has been fun (just so I can understand it better).

What's your take on Synonym/Tether's Pubky? John Carvalho claims Nostr isn't as censorship resistant as it thinks and Pubky offers better solution? Marketing talk or legit?

I think we're just in the very early stages atm. In order for it to register with NPCs it will need to hit them where it hurts en masse and be hyped by the mainstream media. I reckon it could culminate in "global bank hacks" where its sold as your money has gone - here's a CBDC with same amount to fix it. All quietly coinciding with meltdown of bond markets / fiat system of course.
