Some people seem to pitch Nostr as a privacy tool, but isn't it kind of a bad idea to spread your IP address to 10 relays at once?

It even creates plausible deniability for any of these relays if they decide to dox a user.

Those people should know better. Security and opsec have different gradients.

I hope no one is pitching it as a privacy tool! At least in current form or without other tools…

A good VPN will help. Like Mullvad, where you can subscribe anonymously. And a pseudonym. That should definitely help.
moonshot64 · 93w
I'm actually more concerned with censorship at the DNS level.

BTW zapping you does not work

Amethyst works great connected to . onion relays. You can also easily run one of those and maybe a bouncer like bostr2 to broadcast to many others. Privacy goes up, mobile data usage goes down.

Withdrawing Bitcoin from an exchange or receiving Bitcoin in general can very
insecure.

If an attacker has access to your host device, they might be able to alter what
Bitcoin address is passed along to the receiver.

How can you be sure that the other person or exchange has received the correct
Bitcoin address that you sent them?

By making use of public key cryptography, you can create an encrypted message,
which includes your withdrawal address, your account ID and a secret. It is
encrypted to the known public key of the exchange (or person).

The exchange then decrypts the message and presents the user with the secret.
This way, the user can be sure that the exchange has definitely received his
Bitcoin address.

This protocol does not exist yet, but if there is sufficient demand for it, we
will work with our partners to implement it.

You can find more information about this in our blog post:

Yes, that are mastodon posts. They should be able to read and also reply to your comment. https://gitlab.com/soapbox-pub/mostr#mostr

I'm not sure exactly how to find specific people, I didn't find many myself. But I see a lot of Mastodon posts when in global
