A Motto of Love
If you long to reach the realms of peace,
Do not pursue vain riches, nor harbor any shadow.
Sorrow and affliction, one by one,
Clear from your path, and leave them far behind.
When faced with blows and snares along the road,
Reveal the fullest strength of goodness you possess.
And when evil surrounds you, or wounds you, overcome it
As silently as sunlight conquers cold and mist.
Forgive those who fail to understand,
And bless, throughout your life,
The lips that kiss you
And, moments later, mock you.
Let self-improvement be your purpose,
And helping others your delight.
From the splendor of the stars
To the humbleness of dust,
Here is love’s motto for eternal victory:
Give, serve, restore, work, and forget.
