Microsoft just turned all Office users into AI users. Lmao. It’s now called the "Microsoft 365 Copilot" app. Get ready for fee increases and having your data opted into training by default with confusing settings. Enshittification has peaked.

Independent sites cannot compete with companies like Google, Microsoft, or OpenAI, which have unlimited money. Even Wikipedia has mentioned this problem. They are losing a massive amount of traffic from Google. These AI apps do not give credit or send users back to the original source on the web. As a result, people are stopped from creating new Q&A or editing and adding information to Wikipedia.

This chart shows the total number of Stack Overflow questions asked each month. As you can see, AI summaries in Google and AI coding tools have nearly killed the site. It is only a matter of time before the site shuts down completely. The golden age of independent news, blogs, forums, and specialized sites like Stack Overflow is over. Whether this is good or bad, only time will tell. Personally, I think we are now restricting all internet traffic to just a few Gen AI apps https://data.stackexchange.com/stackoverflow/query/1926661#graph

If IPv6 was a human, its mum & dad would be having a serious conversation right now. Something like "Look, son, you're 30 and we love you but you can't just keep relying on Dual-Stack to pay your bills. You need to get out there and route on your own."

Mum will be like: Sush, Dad. Well, I guess Happy Birthday IPv6!

Dad will be like: IPv6 you are the "Linux on the Desktop" of the networking layer.

My next PC or laptop will be 500 to 800 bucks more expensive in 2026, but at least I can make a video of a kitten playing and dancing in my home. Isn't that great? LOL. /s

It doesn't matter who wins the AI race, whether it’s OpenAI, Google, Microsoft or world governments. We will be the collateral damage in this. Energy bills, water bills, and hardware prices are going to become major talking points in 2026 and beyond. These are just a few things I’ve noticed as 2025 comes to a close.

Personally, I think it’s high time to introduce higher taxation for companies that have started using AI or robots to replace humans in any industry ( not just IT OR office jobs). We could call it an 'AI tax.' The revenue collected should go to people who have lost their jobs to robots. Of course, there would need to be a framework and laws to manage this. We need something like this to preserve the fabric of society and to keep people from falling into poverty, or worse, crime.

Do you love Unix? Do you want to experience the old school Unix that ran on PDP-11 computers? Fear not, you can now do it for learning purposes right on your own computer. This page explains how to use the UNIX v4 tape to bootstrap the system and enjoy the nostalgia once again on your modern machine. Give it a try! You have nothing to lose in an age where most modern commercial operating systems (Windows/Android and othes) have turned into data harvesting machines.
