When devs spend $200 on a Claude plan, they consume about $5,000 in compute. That is right. It is heavy subsidization by Anthropic. Remember Google/Amazon/Nvidia/ Microsoft & others are funding Anthropic and they are buying back cloud services and GPUs from the same vendors. On the books, it seems Google, Amazon and Nvidia are all making profits via AI, but the reality is this is just circulating money with heavy subsidization hoping to trap retail, pension funds, Govt funds via IPO route.

The AI automation arms race layoff trap:

1 Competitive pressure pushes firms to automate using AI more than needed for market

2 Now jobless workers can't buy products/services, harming both labor & firm owners

3 Suggested solution by AI companies like UBI/upskilling/lower wages cannot stop the AI doom cycle

The study concludes that only a Pigouvian automation tax can fix the problem. Policy makers must address the competitive drive to automate, not just the post AI fallout afterward

If you look at the IOU circlejerk in AI right now, it's clear as day that capitalism has transcended consumer capita...

Yup makes sense, but how on earth to implement an automation tax lol. That's a bureaucratic nightmare (another one)

I've developed a special hatred for people or businesses that push important updates via email or social media but host the actual document such as a PDF on LinkedIn. WTF? What is the logic here? Just use an S3 bucket/FTP server, or your own web server. Why must everyone suffer through logging into that monstrosity?

Anthropic AI: Mythos is a next gen cybersecurity tool that will make security flaws a thing of the past and you don't need any IT/infosec staff.

*one week later* Some hackers gained access to Mythos and have access to customer data.

So much hype about some garbage model with no care for security. This and many other models are now used by Apple, banks, military and other big customers. Imagine amount of stuff that will be now accessed by anyone because people behind it don't review it. ๐Ÿคก

Palantir pulished bizarre manifesto denouncing inclusivity and regressive cultures https://xcancel.com/PalantirTech/status/2045574398573453312

I am no expert but they want strong military hard power (which you know always goes to everywhere in the world causing many issues like recent energy issues), traditional national service, and a rejection of modern culture and political correctness.

No thank you. I really hope they go out of business. More here https://techcrunch.com/2026/04/19/palantir-posts-mini-manifesto-denouncing-regressive-and-harmful-cultures/

The Facebook and Instagram owner Meta will lay off about 10% of its global workforce, or close to 8,000 employees, in that initial round, one of the sources said despite record breaking profilts to fund its AI data center. Layoffs linked to AI-driven efficiency push, mirroring broader tech-sector trends https://www.reuters.com/world/meta-targets-may-20-first-wave-layoffs-additional-cuts-later-2026-2026-04-17/ This is first round and further layoffs planned for later in 2026, details not finalized yet.
