Older daughter benefited from those and her funded Speech and Language degree was massively oversubscribed. They could choose the best, most aware candidates as students. A couple of years later and recruitment was through the floor.

@nprofile1q... This has been a claim for generations. Immigration has never been the zero sum game that the racists pretend. But it’s a useful myth to peg everything they want on to.

@nprofile1q... And note that schools often have rules about what gifts from grateful parents can be accepted. A somewhat higher standard than applies to our political class.

Whereas I’ve long lost count of the number of these kind of posts that seem to think that National Shoe Lace day (or whatever) is somehow applicable 🌏 wide or that only Americans are on the internet

@nprofile1q... But also, do price rises = inflation. i.e when there is a commodity cost rise feeding price rises (or being included directly) that isn’t part of the money supply feeding market price maximisation process. If I understood my undergrad Economics foundation class properly.
