A beta version of my #CodingFont and #TerminalFont family Sudo has been released.
In version 4, I've added parametric variable axes so that you can modify the spacing and the width of the letterforms independently. Combined with the existing weight and descender axes, this makes the fonts ultra configureable so you can get exactly the dimensions and look you want in your IDE.
For example, my current #font setting in #VSCode is weight 340 and width 98, see the sample #Python code in the image.

@nprofile1q... @nprofile1q... TrueType zones behave any way you program them to. Actually, there are no "alignment zones" in TrueType, only control values you can use as reference.
(It was a great achievement of Yuri Yarmola with FontLab Studio to make TrueType hinting look so similar to PostScript hinting :) )

@nprofile1q... @nprofile1q... Are you talking about analog drawings by Frutiger, or digitised versions by others? I think he added overshoots to vertical stems without serifs, while flat letters would sit on the baseline. This is visible e.g. in the specification for OCR-B. Maybe it was misaligned in digitisation so that vertical stems got shifted to the baseline, thus making the z float?
@nprofile1q... @nprofile1q... The rounded height is calculated according to the blue zone itself, BlueFuzz causes additional points outside the zone being rounded to that height, but doesn’t change the rounded height.
@nprofile1q... A BlueFuzz of 1 would catch the points that are 1 unit above the baseline while keeping the zone at 0, but it may cause trouble with other zones that are very close to each other.
