@nprofile1q... I loved this passage:

The companies that once aimed to make good products and postured as democracy-loving and progressive now open ally themselves with fascists, actively enshittify the internet with slop, and force-feed us annoying AI features that nobody wants. In response, the new Luddites seek not to abandon technology entirely, but build new infrastructure that embraces proximity and in-person human relationships, instead of alienation and doom-scrolling.

I think this mirrors the experience of many. Executives have either bought the narrative from someone they trust or are actually AI brainwormed, and middle management has a gun to their head about it,...

@nprofile1q... yeah, this tracks my experience very closely. I was laid off shortly after expressing concerns that some of our LLM powered features were not production ready (but were shipped anyways). Another dev that was laid off along with me had been raising concerns about how agentic coding, while speeding up the code writing process, was just shifting the burden of work onto code review.

@nprofile1q... yeah, the You shall not “(d) reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or otherwise attempt to learn the source code, structure or algorithms underlying the Editor, except to the extent required to be permitted under applicable law; (e) modify, translate or create derivative works of the Editor;” seems antithetical to the nature of open source software.
