This doesn't surprise me. The term woke comes from the neo-Marxist idea of awakening people or brainwashing them into thinking they are being oppressedn by the system, in order to generate revolutionary energy in those people so they will rise up and destroy the system, and put commie dictators into power.

Marxists George Lukacs and Paulo Friere call this brainwashing process "conscientization" ... hence the word "conscious"

Every time one of their ideas or words gets found out and develops a bad reputation, they change the terminology and carry on.
