One of the reasons ThinkGeek's April Fools products worked so well is that we spent the entire month of March doing little else other than preparing for April 1.
The majority of the joke products had physical prototypes. The photography was real, which is why they didn't look like photoshops. They weren’t. They were handcrafted.
It wasn't something someone did on the afternoon of March 30th. You can't be epic unless you spend the time to do it right.
We may be hiring a dedicated devops/cybersecurity person at my job soon. If that's you and you're comfortable in a very small company that does a lot of perl, DM me! I've only been here for a month but it seems okay so far.
Python people: If you came across a resume for a Senior Perl Engineer, what would convince you to look at them for transitioning to a Python position? Certification, courses, a good cover letter?
I’m not sure if it's time to transition languages, but if I do I've liked Python the most of the non-Perl world, and I want to be prepared.
