One of the reasons why I want Universal Basic Income is I long ago found I do enjoy a good day's work.

The problem about a good day's work is you cannot live off of it.

For example, one of my most fulfilling roles was not in management, or business, but rather feeding the homeless and those less fortunate at a local survival center. Or reading to children at one of the local libraries.

That made me feel great and gave me a sense of purpose. But you cannot live on doing what is right anymore in America. We're not a moral and ethical society. But we can be.

We have concentration camps!

I have been trying to find this in the news, but I have not found any references to it anywhere.

Members of ICE like to brag about the horrible things they're doing at my job (Facebook). For the past two (2) weeks, they have talking about detainee's work ethics. At first, I presumed they were referring to how many of them were caught working. I was wrong.

ICE is giving their prisoners tasks to do. They are being told those who do not complete their task do not eat, or eat, but are given rations last (the leftovers).

We are hurting people, and I know it.

When you visit Facebook.com, you see nothing — just a screen asking you to sign up or log in.

Friendica does the same thing.

I prefer a transparent Fediverse — one where, before I decide to sign up and share any details about myself, I can see what kind of community you're running and who’s part of it.

For example, I watched Mstdn.ca for nearly a month before joining. I knew who the staff were, what kind of posts they liked or shared, who appeared to be active, whether the space was fairly moderated, whether there was any drama, if people's privacy was respected, and generally what kind of content was welcomed.

Fedi sites like Friendica lack that transparency. You join and just hope you didn't unknowingly make a mistake.

I work for Meta, and after spending 8–12 hours a day exposed to everyone's personal drama — along with things you really don’t want to know — realism, or art that closely imitates it, just isn't appealing to watch.

So that “real TV” stuff? I couldn’t care less. The latest TV drama? I’ve probably experienced it a hundred times already, just by witnessing everyone else’s.

For someone like me, the idea of a cartoon character ending up in another world — with magic, and where good deeds actually matter — is far more entertaining.

If your goal is for your website to be 100% outside U.S. jurisdiction, you need to avoid the so-called cool, word-based domain names.

Many of them are managed and sponsored by corporations within the United States. And even if you find one today that's not, which is rare, corporations buy things all the time.

The sure guarantee is to host outside the USA, but also use a non-US domain name, and that means avoiding word-based domains such as .social, for example.

Every once in a while, someone says something like:

“I do this, and that makes me safe from Facebook’s prying eyes!”

It’s all complete nonsense.

If you use our Meta products or services in any manner, we know who you are, where you are, what you’re doing, who your friends are, and so much more.

I am so confident of that fact that, as a Meta employee, I have been warning people about what we’re doing, and I know my job is still safe and secure.

Because, will everyone leave Facebook? Nope!

Meta is like a drug to which many people have become addicted and rely upon. There are entire nations that use WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger for everything.

I’ve told people we are working closely with the United States government. We are actively building lists that Donald Trump could use to single people out. And people are still using Meta.

But ultimately, you need to accept there is nothing you can do to keep us from knowing everything about you while you continue to use Meta.

There's no trick to use Meta safely
