Fiestas in Costa Rica seem to be on the louder side. I'm getting a 100dB warning from my watch 😅
It's fabulous, but as expensive as Europe & US, and a lot of third-worldy things, like rusty corrugated sheet metal roofs, unpaved roads, and lots of people with extremely high time preference. But nature is incredible, climate is super pleasant in the highlands, and enormously fertile.

I don't think they're bitter. Too much of anything isn't perceived as good, because all biological life forms oscillate around an optimal median for every dimension. If you get too far to one side, the pendulum swings back, because the organism perceives that as desirable. It's just nature, nothing rational about it.
