I also have a thing for craft beer, and did so before it was quite as trendy as today.

I live in Meanjin/Brisbane QLD Australia - in Bardon 4065 - on the land of the Turrbul and Jagera people. I'm British and moved here ten years ago.

Also, note to others about domain names...

I spoke about the https://newpodcasts.net feed on a stage once. Someone came up to me afterwards and said that the website didn't work.
"New Podcasts dot net doesn't work?" I said to them.
"Yes, New Podcast dot net doesn't work."
"New Podcasts Dot Net?"
"Yes, New Podcast Dot Net".

I bought newpodcast.net ten minutes later.

@nprofile1q... @nprofile1q... I don't know about the implementation (or whether signed media fetches is the right way); but I do know that if people spoof the names of other podcast apps in the useragent, then at some point, those other podcast apps will be caught in the crossfire with no fix in sight.

Also - a dependable useragent is also a billing mechanism, if you are sharing ad revenues with a podcast app. Which is the recommendation from @nprofile1q... and one I personally agree with.

We seem to have agreed to Apple taking a fee, apparently, for ads in (HLS) podcasts. So why not agree to that for Overcast, Pocket Casts, etc etc? Every podcast app gets, say, $1 CPM (or a tenth of a cent) per ad played? We can do that, if we have certainty about which app has requested the audio/video. Right now, we do not have that.

(I was very grumpy this week on PWR. Normally it's @nprofile1q... doing a 7am record. This week it was me. But, frankly, there's a lot making me grumpy at the moment about our industry.)
