Sucks for people who've had coin stolen from them, but blacklisting coin means that Bitcoin is no longer fungable.
Whoever came up with and supports that idea have 0 understanding how what Bitcoin is.
A great reminder that public figures in any industry will have close ties to each other, enabling biased endorsements and a fake perception of respect. It's an insider's social club, going against the grain will not open doors for you, so it eventually becomes a circle jerk.
This happens ALL THE TIME, it's just human nature. But it still shocks me how much how people idolize and blindly listen to public figures even in Bitcoin. We're now seeing there were red flags all long, but Coldcards were still being recommended as the gold standard left and right by your favorite famous bitcoiner and their podcast best friends.

If I were a conspiracy theorist, I’d say NVK is a state actor who intentionally put a backdoor in #COLDCARD so people would lose their coins, then pushed a firmware update that bricked their devices...
Not that I’m against the theory, but that would be too great of a compliment to nvk. Think he might just be an arranging asshole conman and that’s it.

I have always read/heard that multi-vendor and multi-sig is the gold standard. It’s the best way to spread the minimal third party trust left in self custody.
