I do a lot of heat pumps/mini splits and AC systems that utilize solar. Honestly works well, so long as your region is legitimately sunny. If it is not understand, the solar panels are purely a purchase for energy independence.

Unfortunately most markets are imbedded with gov rebates and incentives so it is a little difficult to shake out where the real practicalities lie in relation to price point.

Best advice, if you are mechanically inclined go buy the panels and brackets, mount them yourself, and snipe a licensed electrician that wants a weekend or two of side work tying them into an inverter and your panel.
