I have a couple of shirts that just say things like "permissionless" and whatnot that I think are pretty low-key, but if you're in the Bitcoin community, you catch on to it pretty fast.

Yup! With all the flock and wifi scanning and vulnerability crap, my plans were, if any automation, it's hard wired to a board/chip i programmed myself lol

One of my older co-workers a couple of jobs ago was retiring, and he was super dedicated to making his house smart, but it's exactly that. It's all industrial automation that's hardwired. And honestly, I really wish I still had his number because it would be super cool to see where he is at with that project.

Yeah exactly! If PLCs weren't so expensive I would have picked some up to play with. But as with most industrial stuff it's locked down in proprietary garbage etc. Im sure a lot has changed over the years and now probably plenty of older devices that would work well, but I haven't looked into it in ...

If I ever eventually get my own place, I probably won't have a lot of smart devices other than networking equipment. And the only reason they're smart is because I program them and tell them what to do. 😂

Im done with all smart devices man, especially wireless. But I simply rent a small room so I don't get many choices XD

Yeah you gotta make those tradeoffs lol. Last place/roomates were the same way. I was able to integrate them with hass and take everything offline and setup programs and they were mostly happy. Everyone else gets their own SSID, vlan, and VPN for their outbound traffic so it hopefully can't come bac...
