Nobody sees the prayer before the kids wake up. Nobody sees you choosing patience when you're already empty. Nobody sees the decision to keep your word when it cost you something.

That's fine. Integrity isn't a performance.

But you see it. And over time, so will the people closest to you — not because you told them to look, but because it shapes who you are.

Character built in private shows up everywhere.

i invited a few people with kids from my regular bitcoin meet up to hang at a park, then invited a few non-bitcoin friends and their kids. the kids played while the adults were able to talk about crazy grocery & gas prices, the uncertain future our kids will inherit, and how to hedge against an incr...

I've heard lots of people talk about how AI enables just-in-timre learning, compared to the traditional just-in-case model of education, reading, and self-development.

I'm enjoying the shift to just-in-time software. Exactly the tool you need, when you need it. Give or take a few million tokens.

Tell me about how you've used AI to enhance your work or life. What tools you've found useful vs cumbersome, where you've streamlined things, and how dependent you are on cloud infrastructure vs local...

The two main areas that come to mind:

1. Homelab administration. So nice to be able to delegateupdates and configuration.
2. Custom software. Exactly what I need it to be. Just-in-time software over just-in-case software.

I've found it so-so at automating workflows ("do this for me…") and brilliant at refining and writing scripts to streamline workflows ("write a script that will do this for me…").

i’m not a technical person. and they say there are no stupid questions, so here we go: do i need to do anything about this on-chain zaps thing? i read that some nostr platforms implemented them, but...

There isn’t anything you can do, sadly. Your nostr key can double as an on-chain address (coincidence). If people send you on-chain zaps, that’s made visible because of nostr so that on-chain address is associated with you personally. This gives nogoodniks a target for social-engineering their way into your account. If they get your nsec, they can access those funds.

I wouldn’t worry about it, though. Either they’re going to be dust transactions (too small to do anything with—not worth their time) or large enough that it will be worth your time to do a coinjoin (which obfuscates their connection to you).

The devs are doing this because they’re trying to make it possible to send any new user a zap, whether they know how to set up a Lightning wallet or not. People will figure out appropriate use cases once the novelty wears off.
