Yeah I mean the RE1 remake is mostly a puzzle game with horror dressing. All of the early ones are. I’ve played RE4 the most because it’s an action game with horror dressing. The early games are very cheesy and campy but that’s part of the charm. The sound design (outside of the voice acting) is legitimately excellent. Gameplay is a matter of preference: the puzzles, item management, and survival horror of the originals are very polished and well thought out. However, I prefer action schlock. I’m a simple minded bro at heart.

With Resident Evil: Requiem coming out, I’ve been feeling the pull to try those games out but want to start at the beginning. I’m not a horror game player, though. The only game I’ve played that could be considered horror is Limbo lol. I also avoid horror movies, so maybe they’ll just not be...
