@nprofile1q... it really depends on the line of sight. If it has a clear line of sight, it may reach repeaters dozens of km away. We have connections longer more than 100 km here. But those are typically peaks. In an urban area without a clear view? Maybe a couple of km. You don't really know until you buy it and try it out.

@nprofile1q... The repeat mode in MeshCore isn't really designed to create community meshes. It's an adhoc thing for smaller groups on hikes etc. It runs intentionally on a different frequency. One of the MC design choices is that a limited number of nodes can repeat (only repeaters) because the air time is limited and too many devices repeating everything just eat each other's air time. It's one of the reasons why MT has much bigger problems with scaling than MC.

But I admit there are situations and use cases where MT may be better. Your post-storm situation may be one of them. An MC response to that would be building more reliable repeaters. In our country we run repeaters on high elevation peaks with really extreme weather conditions. Some of them have gone through several iterations to make them cope with the conditions.

@nprofile1q... you linked my English blog. The stats are from the Czech one. It's nothing new, bots are my old friends. I just tried Umami to see whether it can filter out bots better than Independent Analytics. Apparently it can't.

@nprofile1q... what do you mean by changing configuration to join the local mesh? Isn't it some deliberate decision of the local community rather than a feature of MeshCore? Here the whole country runs on the same preset. I can text someone on the other side of the country and someone in my town. Both using one configuration.

@nprofile1q... @Schmaker @nprofile1q... ale i tam časem budou. Třeba v brněnské Olympii už jsem napočítal 33 nabíjecích bodů. Některé venku, některé vevnitř. Na Chodově už je jich taky 10. Ono když člověk to EV má, tak si mnohem víc všímá, kde se dá nabíjet. Když jsme měli jen klasické auto, taky jsem k tomu byl slepý. U těch nákupáků to může být i ve výsledku jednodušší vybudovat. Tam je většinou dovedená infrastruktura s rezervou, některé z nich to živí FVE na střeše. Udělat lokální rozvody už je ten menší problém. U pumpy se asi nikdy nepočítalo s tím, že tam bude potřeba třeba 1 MW.
