Dude, you need better friends and a less toxic environment.

Taking issue with you not knowing Spanish is just projecting their own shortcomings. If Spanish was the real issue, they ought to be helping you with that.

Wanting you to pick fields is not unique to Mexicans. People in general are jealous and very few people actually want you to succeed. They'd rather take you down with them (like spending boatloads of money on booze).

You don't have to be whatever narrow-minded people want to box you into. It's up to you to find your own purpose and sense if identity.

It’s been almost every hispanic person I’ve known in school, at work, and my personal life. Almost universal experience honestly. I’ve even had Hispanic come up to and start speaking Spanish but then I had to tell them I speak English.
