I look at a world where US GDP is ~ 40 Trillion, and global GDP is well over 100 Trillion and
a default on a trillion or so in AI bonds just doesn't seem that critical; bigger then WHOOPs* or Enron or the dotcom bust, but not really that big a thing

yeah, we may have a mild recession but those come and go, I mean really really hard on those laid off, but overall not that big a deal

as you may know, there was a huge boom/bust in the early 1800s around canals, then the hot new tech

and another one , a bit later around railroads

and in the early part of this century, there were a LOT of companies spending big to make automobiles, and many of those factories quickly became worthless

lets stipulate* that the figure for total industry revenue is ~~ US $800 billion

now some of that is circular, but still, for an early stage, CAPEX intensive technology, a spend/revenue ratio of ~~ 2/1 isn't that bad

one problem is that outside of a miniscule number of people, NO ONE cares about open source, in the strict sense of being able to read, copy and modify source code

Under the constitution, each of the 50 states retains certain fundamental rights, and diff states have diff rules about filling a vacancy

I would guess that in this case, since elections are $$, and since there is an election in only a few months, it makes sense to fill the seat on a temporary basis
