#OnThisDay in 1805, the British Royal Navy defeated a combined French and Spanish intending to pave the way for an invasion of Great Britain, at the Cape of Trafalgar, off the coast of South West Spain. The RN commander, Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson, was killed during the action. He is buried in Saint Paul’s Cathedral in London.
