A 5 gal bucket of water and a battery + charge controller will be attached to the base of the tallest corners to mitigate typical wind.

When a hurricane or strong storm is coming I'll be moving these under tree cover and/or using earth screw anchors and chain to affix it to the ground so it doesn't blow away.

I’ll bend identical conduits for the “sleds” so there are no fittings on the ground inhibiting dragging it.

The (small) vertical struts will vary in length to give me the appropriate winter angle.

I will use T fittings to add horizontal members to create a box. Once they’re on I’ll use steel cable and turnbuckles to make it rigid, followed by welded wire screen attached using steel cable ties.

Also, ditch the glyphosate and plastic tarp yard kill renovation techniques and embrace the “I’ll finish this after it’s not so damn hot out” solar technique. https://static.noauthority.social/media_attachments/files/116/681/806/049/300/682/original/65d177cff86dce21.jpeg

@Caleb James DeLisle @nprofile1q... You're going to want to brush hog / push mow anything that's more than 12". It can handle tall spindly grass if you go a few weeks without mowing a zone, but it's not going to cope with dense 16" grass/weeds.

And yes, you can queue up zones one after another and it will work on the next zone after it finishes the current one.

@Caleb James DeLisle @nprofile1q... It's still running fine, no real additions to the recommendations regarding the unit in the thread. https://noauthority.social/@eriner/116346168268366753

I've had to make one repair:

One of the magnetic sensors on the omniwheel arm busted the small plastic ring that the screw held in place. I Weld Bonded it back to the metal, no big deal.

I visually inspect the deck every (sometimes other) evening, scape it if necessary, clean it with soap and water once a week.

Thanks! I noticed you said not to mow at night because of dew. Does it let you schedule mowing in the day and then it will make it's own decision to cancel if it detects rain, or do you have to manually schedule around the weather?

@nprofile1q... AFAIK the chicken is fairly untainted as far as grocery store chickens go. You're still going to have the retained bleach water from processing, but that's with every chicken you don't pluck yourself. I haven't found the cooking process itself to be repugnant.

They're $5 and they're all the way in the back of the store.

It's probably the last thing they'd adulter because it's one of the biggest draws into the store; they fuck that up and they're screwed.

But maybe they are a loss-leader anyway, and they don't need to do that....
