True story: a tech company where I worked decided to expand their help desk offices to include India. A lot of money was spent. A lot of training was done.
Most customers hated it, but not enough to change suppliers - they just called when the India office was closed, or tried to get transferred to Europe or North America.
Then one day the VP showed up in India unannounced. The locals were using the office conference rooms to provide brothel services.
Closed in a week.
When there's a rap / hip-hop / R&B event at the venue up the road, the local panhandlers are replaced by folks hawking bootleg concert shirts.
They are there for a lot of Central American acts, but Mexican bands get a bonus of cheap cowboy hats for sale with the bootleg shirts.
They aren't there for country, pop, rock or other genres.
The worst Amazon can say about me is that I'm "Gradually building bedroom furniture set" because I ordered a complete bedroom set 3 years ago.
Also I like "bamboo and natural materials" at the same time that I prefer "marble and gold aesthetic themes". Neither of which is true.

And 8 ugly kids. I finagled him into moving to another group and we all breathed a sigh of relief.
Anyway, he just sent me a nice message via LinkedIn that the move saved his career and now he's retiring and thanks me for everything.
Oddly sweet.
I tried explaining this to someone, but he said I didn't make sense.
There are a lot of black people in Durham, and that never bothered me. Even in the Section 8 neighborhoods, folks seemed more...disappointed? discarded? non-mobile?
But here in Charlotte, a lot of the darker folk seem downright malevolent. They have a bad vibe. Like they could break into a fight any minute.
I don't like it.
Note to self: oil change, then car wash. If done in reverse order, the person under the car will mutter imprecations the entire oil change.
I like Rock Auto - not only do they have everything, but it's all at a good price.
There are times, however, when you need the insight from customer comments, and there are no comments on Rock Auto.
So if I'm looking for a TPMS programmer, I still have to go to Amazon to read the comments and find out if a particular model will fit my needs.
The guy across the street bought a giant SUV. Since his driveway is already full with another SUV and a pickup truck, he's parking it half in the narrow street behind my driveway, and half on his lawn.
I've been thinking of leaving a note asking him to park somewhere else because it's hard to get out of my driveway even without his behemoth there.
Turns out, parking on the grass is illegal and another neighbor called the code police. Problem solved!
Was tidying up the Mostly Former Housemate's room when I came across a 30-year old slow cooker recipe book.
I was flipping through, thinking I would make fun of the recipes, but now I'm making risi bisi on Wednesday.
