It's rarely cool to say someone "deserved" to die, though government officials who kill their own citizens probably do. (Not politicians who don't vote the way you want. Not people working for agencies you don't like.)

The CIA had a translation of a publicly available Russian study, that wasn't about cancer but included speculation on the similarities of response some cancers had to parasite treatments, based on early experiments.

It would be more reasonable to ask why the Russians didn't pursue these speculations, and if they did, what results were found.
