@nprofile1q... I use Nachrichtentisch.de for a news overview of German media resp. Newstable.info for an overview of international news. These two are quite neat small non-commercial websites which just list and link the relevant headlines collected via rss from the respective sources. I think they are quite helpful for not getting drowned in more or less newsworthy topics.
