When i lived off the base in Okinawa, my neighbor across the street was Mr. Nakamori. He was born on the island of Yaeyama. The Japanese conscripted him in WWII. He spent time in China fixing Japanese aircraft. After the war, he moved to Okinawa & became a military dog handler. He retired after 30 years of patrolling Kadena Air Base. He was the nicest man. When I’d deploy, he’d get my kids ice cream or a watermelon. He had Goya growing on chicken wire on the side of his house. RIP Nakamori-San

When I worked at Bombardier, the Engineers wore a ring on their pinky finger that reminded them of the responsibility and ethical conduct of their profession. When I was in meetings with them and the engineers from Bombardier Learjet in Wichita, they would “ring knock” the table. Was it a power move? I don’t get it.

I had a very hard time with Algebra. I never got past it in high school. I tried taking college algebra my 1st year of college, got a D.
I finally found a teacher who could explain it to me. He was a Vietnam vet who taught at Saint Leo College in Florida. He had his windpipe injured during the war & spoke with a shrill voice. He was able to explain it like this. You can do arithmetic? Yes. Ok, replace the variables with numbers & do the math. It worked! He explained what was so abstract to me.
