congrats! 🥳 it’s hard to believe that i am going to be closing in on the end of my second year here already…

there is some good and some bad…

seemingly amazingly, nothing catastrophic happened, and although there was some cracking, it is in a place that will not be viewable in the final piece anyways. 🥳

however, despite my anxiety and carefulness, the firing settings got messed up, and the piece was fired to come 6 instead of cone 06. but in the end this is not an altogether awful thing, since it means that it is extremely unlikely any more cracking will happen in the glaze firing as it has already reached the maximum temperature. the downside is this makes the piece much more difficult and risky to glaze in the parts that i plan to.

overall i’m very pleased, but there is still two more firings so the journey for this skull is far from over…

i did not throw this. my friend (who actually can throw) did, i only decorated it. this joint project is a gift for our mutual buddy who recently lost a loved one.

its still supposed to be a surprise but the real surprise would be if he’s on nostr and sees this lol.

i decided to stay away from my usual danse macabre/memento mori imagery and did a little expermentation with some crude stencils and a spray gun. it definitely could be better, but i am not too displeased with the results.

we love you paul, and we are wishing you the best in these troubling times. you’re so strong it scares me, so just keep doing your thing, and i’m sure you’ll pull through.

idk if this is just me being inept, but i zapped this note 100 and paid the invoice on fanfares and still can’t access it. on fanfares it just says “paid” then gives me confetti…
