I am a selective introvert, and I’ve learned that silence is not emptiness, it’s protection. I don’t open up easily anymore because I’ve seen how quickly energy changes when it’s given to the wrong people. I can be kind, present, even understanding—but only where I feel safe, only where I don’t have to shrink myself to belong.
