I took the form off the capping sill today. It's not perfect in form, but I'm happy that it will do it's job perfectly.

What's left of the nectarine tree can do another season or two, I can't see myself building a carport for a year or so, though I have 4 posts in the ground.

Years ago our old electric range died. We replaced it with a wall oven and this gas camping stove top. Finally now we have joined the 21st century and purchased a budget induction top. There were a couple of false starts (read, burnt pots) but we're now getting the hang of it. The past two nights I have successfully cooked 1. perfect rice and 2. a soup.

80 km/hr speed limit, nationwide, starting now. Don't wait for the signs to go up. #NZPol #energyCrisis

@nprofile1q... Correct. I painted an 80km sign on the back of our van some 6 or 7 years ago, and have not breached that speed in that time. From my understanding most vehicles use 12-15% less fuel on the difference between 80 and 100 km, therefore, reduced emissions (and I save a few pennies).

By and large I have received very few examples of poor behaviour as a result. Sometimes people cut in front of me as they pass as obvious rebuke and I have received the occasional middle finger or toot on the horn. I remember back in the 70's when there were still many older slower vehicles on the road and they sported a 'slow vehicle' sign, other road users were able to accommodate that.

Don't wait for the signs to go up.

George Henry Cousins 2 Jan. 1936 - 10 Mar. 1980

Tomorrow morning I shall again light a candle to the memory of my father, Henry, who took his own life 46 years ago. I am now very nearly two decades older than he ever was. He had around 20 years of employment with the NZ Meteorological Service.

Here he is at around 18 or 20 years old and again several years before his death. I remember taking the second photo, I would have been 13 or 14. He was a good man.

The results of the study that this article reports upon is that if atmospheric CO₂ levels continue to rise at the current rate then within several decades (50-odd years) our blood chemistry will be altered such that healthy homeostasis will be compromised.

So if you are concerned about water scarcity, sea level rise, damage due to floods and storms, crop failures, war, pestilence, and mass migrations here is something to add to the list of things driving us all toward a mass extinction event.

Stop fossil fuels. Stop war.

I need to cast an object from glass fibre reinforced concrete. So I'm making a form.

I'm having a bit of fun and challenge to build in the negative. Yes, I believe I have the positive result in my head, but there is a feeling that I will be surprised when I see the first attempt.

@nprofile1q...

I hear you. Yes, there is public interest, however, details and interviews could be found somewhere in 'court news' buried on page 15.

Hourly news headlines can wait for the: "Mass murderer files proceedings but has been denied his appeal." End of story.

People who continue to experience trauma do not need the @nprofile1q... coverage it is getting.

Ngā mihi.

(I don't know why I feel so strongly about this, but here I am).
