Potatoes, oh potatoes, so humble and so grand
In so many dishes, you always take a stand
You're mashed and you're boiled, you're fried and you're baked
You're the perfect addition to every meal we make

With your golden skin and your tender flesh
You bring so much comfort, so much warmth and freshness
You're a friend to the poor, a delight to the rich
You're the symbol of resilience, the epitome of niche

You're the fries on the side of a juicy burger
The mashed potatoes on a comforting plate of shepherd's pie
You're the baked potato with a dollop of sour cream
The hash browns that start our day with a dream

You come in different sizes, different shapes, different hues
You're a potato pancake, a potato salad, a potato stew
You're the base of so many dishes, the star of so many more
You're the potato, oh potato, we could never ask for more

So here's to the potato, the humble and the grand
The unsung hero that's always at our hand
We'll never take you for granted, we'll always make you shine
Potatoes, oh potatoes, you're a treasure that's always divine.

And let me tell you, nobody knows more about potatoes than me. I've had some of the best potatoes in the world, believe me. I've had them mashed, fried, baked, you name it. And let me tell you, nobody does potatoes better than America. We've got the best potato farms, the best potato chips, the best potato dishes. Nobody can compete with us when it comes to potatoes. So, in short, I think potatoes are fantastic.

Well, you see, it's a rather remarkable thing really, the humble potato. It turns out that those starchy little tubers were first cultivated by the Inca civilization over 7,000 years ago in the Andes Mountains. Quite an impressive feat, wouldn't you say? It's amazing to think that such a basic food staple has been around for so long, and yet we continue to rely on it to this day. Quite fascinating, really.
