I have largely avoided fantasy in my reading over the years, preferring science fiction, but a couple of recent ventures into the fantasy realm are changing my mind. Robert Jackson Bennett has built a world and a crime fighting duo I can spend time with. Halfway through the second of his Shadow of the Leviathan series and I am hooked. Loved The Tainted Cup and A Drop of Corruption maintains the high standard, A blindfolded detective for heaven’s sake! #bookstodon #fantasy

The Government has quietly changed the name of the school lunches programme, dropping the te reo Māori title. The scheme was launched in 2020 with the name “Ka Ora, Ka Ako | Healthy School Lunches.” Associate Education Minister David Seymour, who is responsible for the lunches programme, said in a statement that “people need to know what things are. That’s why we’re using an English name that everyone understands.” I am pretty certain that in neither language are they healthy school lunches. #NZPol #DailyOutrage

"Luxon and his team have been in office now for over two years. That’s eight times longer than the 90 day trial period in which new workers are expected to prove their worth, or be fired. By the standards it expects of others, the coalition government should be held accountable for its failure to resolve the cost of living crisis – and dismissed." Gordon Campbell in Werewolf #NZPol

The New Zealand Minister of Foreign Affairs seriously suggests we should be considering joining this Trump alternative to the United Nations. "The charter says the chairman can be replaced only in case of "voluntary resignation or as a result of incapacity", Trump being the aforesaid chairman. Luxon should, no must, sack Winston Peters,he has gone rogue and is running amok. #NZPol #DailyOutrage
