#Books #Reading #BlackMastodon #BlackFedi #BlackTwitter I completely forgot I was in the middle of talking about the books I read while recovering from surgery. The following ones are all authors that I’ve read before and enjoyed their works. They are very different from each other, but that’s what makes reading fun. So many authors can take you on a journey you didn’t expect before you picked up their latest offering. Three posts follow. 1/4

@nprofile1q... Stay at a good hotel near the water activities you want to enjoy. We were traveling on a small budget and stayed at an economy hotel. The rooms were clean but one day our cab driver asked us why we were staying there. He said didn't you notice the parking lot is busy at lunch time, which we didn't of course. It was where people went with their mistresses at lunch time! 😆 But the rooms were really clean.🤣
We're going to Curacao next month! 🙌🏿
Of course I've been looking at info online, but wondered if any of the Mastodon nation had any tips or recommendations? I think we'll be trying snorkeling a...
@nprofile1q... We went to Curacao some years back. Photo opportunities are all over the place, particularly, I think its on the way to the city center where you can see all the multi-colored houses in a row. For food I recommend you try an Indonesian (the Dutch colonized Indonesia also) eating experience called "rijjsttafel" which means rice table. it's a number of small dishes across the savory/sweet divide. Don't know which restaurant is best now, but definitely try to find it.

Did you see this story? https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c62qw1qk95eo At first I kind of chuckled than I thought about you.

I've been stuck in the house recuperating from a hip replacement. I bought 12 books to last me the 6 weeks I'm home bound. Well....2 weeks in and I've finished 6 of the 12 books. If someone ever said to me that there could be TOO much reading time, I would have fought them. But here I am, with too much reading time. We are surely living in a Rod Serling Twilight Zone episode.

The National Guard is still occupying DC against the will of the residents here. We were terribly disturbed and stunned to learn 3 Democratic governors sent fresh troops to DC. Michigan and Minnesota are 2 of the 3. If you live or have ties to either state we are asking you to email your governors and ask them to withdraw their troops from DC. I won't be on line for a week or so but go to freedcproject.org/guard.

#Voting #DemocraticParty #NYC #BlackMastodon #BlackFedi #BlackTwitter
The main stream Democratic party needs to wake up and smell the roses. People are tired of their complacency. NYC comes in very similar to DC. https://www.thecityreporter.nyc/2026/06/23/mamdani-election-darializa-chevalier-claire-valdez-brad-lander/
Critics trying to minimize the fact that some moderates won are missing the point. Progressives don't need to win every seat, just enough to outvote the established main streamers who are afraid to fight.

Ranked Choice results in tonight. The Democratic Socialists gob smacked the established Dem party. They got 35 of the 48 seats. That's on top of our candidate winning mayoral primary and a progressive to replace Eleanor Holmes Norton. My ward elected a woman labor leader, and Dem Socialist to represent us on the City Council. First time this generation DC voters had an option and we spoke clearly!

Even if you don't live in DC, pay attention to our primary because Trump uses DC to practice what he is going to do to oppress the states. He announced Thursday he didn't like the candidate that was in the lead for the mayor's race (a Black, progressive woman). He threatened to take over the city if we elect her. That is a threat of voter suppression in its purest form. https://wtop.com/dc/2026/06/i-wouldnt-like-it-trump-threatens-dc-takeover-if-janeese-lewis-george-wins-mayors-race/

#Vote #DC #BlackMastodon #BlackFedi
Early voting started yesterday in the District of Columbia. For the first time in 12 years we have an opportunity to elect a mayor and council who will actually fight FOR us. Get out there and vote folks. It matters. Election Day is Tuesday, June 16th. Check for your local polling places.

Need help finding some info from last week. There was a post about the fact iPhones track uses keystrokes by default and it gave info on how to change settings to prevent that. I must not have book marked it. Does anyone know how to change those settings?

My daughter (who is grown) said her friends did not know about the general strike called for this Friday, May 1st. She was shocked by that. Let me do my bit and remind people that a general strike is happening Friday. General means its for everyone. Did you march in a #NoKingsDay? Well now it's time to up your game. Check Indivisible for events in your area. In Washington DC we'll all be at the Washington Monument. https://indivisible.org/campaigns/may-day-participation-guide/
