This project argues that trade is the origin of most problems: from climate change to slavery, waste and pollution, corruption, crime, you name it. And if we understand the cause, we have a chance to come up with realistic solutions. We backup up these claims via documentaries, books and videos that are freely available for everyone.

How many people celebrate the holy-days today in the same way that people celebrated them 50-100 years ago?

I know that for us, coming from a very religious tribe called Romania, Christmas was more about the Christmas tree, presents, food and Coca-Cola. Oh and watching Home Alone on repeat. Nothing to do with the original Christmas “holy” day. Or anything Romanian specific either.

And so it was the case for everyone I knew. And that’s one of the many “holy” days that today have become mostly about consuming.

The forces of our trade-based society with its marketing tentacles, are transforming the culture more than any dictators and philosophers do. That you should keep in mind.

You just don't like the idea of killing them. Just putting them in psychewards for the rest of their life? Since racism is just as bad you also want to put racists in psychewards? 🤔

@Chaotic Good-ish Barbarian I dont measure these behaviors in this simplistic way. You need to see where anger comes from and then deal with that. We talk about it here tromsite.com/2026/07/culture-c… if you care to read. We showcase how some are approaching this to prevent violence or terrorism and so forth.

Snippet from Culture Cancer:

I am quite happy that some of our roots in Europe, like those from the Ottoman empire, are long gone because I would not want to wear this fashionable-onion-hat.

And most likely very few in Europe would probably listen to the Ottoman music today, or understand their contemporary poetry and art. Not to mention their buildings and many traditions that are not at all compatible with today’s standards, morally and structurally.

But these are our “roots”, right? Or if we go back our roots in Europe were the Roman empire. Should we go way back? Why do we regard “our culture” as the “happenings” that have happened only for the past hundreds of years? Isn’t that an arbitrary line to draw and call it “our culture”? Especially since we know we cannot freeze that culture in time and hope to take it with us intact into the distant future.

@Chaotic Good-ish Barbarian What makes someone rape a child or an old woman, or kill 1 baby or a million citizens, is something that needs to be understood. There is no predisposition to any behavior. I dare you do find that. It is the environment that makes people behave the way they do. So we need to look at that and change that.

If you execute these bad people, the same conditions will create more of them. It's like you try to prevent climate change by blowing up oil refineries to stop people from burning fossil fuel. But you don't understand that the Trade Society we live in, with its institutions and rich people who control our resources, will be incentivized to drill more for oil because it is profitable.

If you don't know what is the cause of a problem, you cannot find a solution for is.

Nah some of them are predisposed. The whole nurture vs nature thing is dumb, these things aren't mutually exclusive like they're at odds with each other or some dumb bullshit like that. Some people it is purely one or the other, some people it is both. But like one guy said, for most of the people ...

@Chaotic Good-ish Barbarian People who hurt other people are terrible people, but also we must look at what makes them do that. In order to prevent. Like with pedophiles - instead of being tough with them, imprison them, kill them, etc., is better to understand why they feel the way they do and prevent harm. Of course those who offend need to be "put away" but in a rehabilitation institution. Same with criminals, killers, etc..

I fear even saying this would trigger many, but there is no better way. If you keep on killing the bad people, you have no clue what made them like that and so others will become the same.

This is a serious and deep discussion and I'd like to address it via our TROM project as we recently did with the Culture Cancer.

Am I to assume you think racists are bad but have no strong feelings on pedophiles? I think it is a pretty straight forward question and that it is really weird for the answer not to be immediately something like "I hate them both" followed by "this one more than the other" or "equally"

Catalonia and the people speaking the catalan language reside mostly here:

And this is how they ended up here:

What was there before?

Some Muslims it seems with their own language and culture.

To quote Wikipedia: “From the 8th century onwards the Catalan counts extended their territory southwards and westwards at the expense of the Muslims, bringing their language with them.”

The classic way of grabbing land, kicking off the “native” people (who very likely did the same thing to others who where there before them), put fences and borders and called it their land with their own language. The story of every tribe. Spain, France, USA … Every single one.

Have you heard of the vulgar-latin? That’s Catalan.

In other words a “vulgar”, non Latin, or “bad” Latin language. Because, of course, all languages are mixes of previous languages. We wrote a 600 pages book about the evolution of languages where we explain in detail how there is no such thing as Spanish, Catalan, English and so forth. Languages are in a constant movement and are comprised, just like those “sarmale” food, of many kinds of flavors. Catalan, French, Romanian, Italian and so forth, are languages that have evolved from Latin. And Latin evolved from other language(s).

To my Catalans readers, to put it simply, the Catalan language (and this applies for every single language) is this:

ONE:

A “bad” version of another language that over time mutated into its own language.

By “bad” I mean people will start to speak an official language (like Latin) in different ways (accents, new words, new ways to write it, etc.) and in the beginning this is considered as “bad” since it deviates from the “rules of the current language”.

But this “bad” will become the “rule”, just as the “rule” was also “bad” at some point. That’s how languages evolve.

TWO

A language that stole words from other languages. Directly, shamelessly, and constantly.

Do you know how Catalans call the “Internet”? Well, “internet”. Inter-Net. Borrowed from the Americans.

Catalan, like all languages, is full of these stolen words, expressions, and meanings.

THREE

A language that is vastly different from its own origins.

The Catalan that was spoken hundreds of years ago is vastly different from the one spoken today.

That’s the case with every single language.
