I'm rich, haha! 😹
Just kidding of course, that's DDR2-800 memory.
Still a whopping 16 GiB of it, though, as an upgrade for my beautiful PowerMac G5 (Dual 2.0GHz).
Only problem: The Mac would only ever run the memory at PC2-3200U (aka 400 MHz), not the full 533MHz.
Someone else had luckily dumped the OpenFirmware ROM and it could determine that it doesn't handle such fast memory properly, it'll just fall back to 400 MHz.

For my current #ESPHome project, I've connected an I²C sensor over 7.2m of STP phone wire. LTC4311 active terminators are impressive. Add a single chip and then run I²C over meters instead of centim...
@nprofile1q... That chip (and it's inner function) is absolutely hilarious :)
It's a great idea actually...

@nprofile1q... It was already the big joke that server4you didn't support IPv6 back in like 2012 when I last used them, but ~5 years ago when I last checked, they still didn't.
Back then, I was looking for carriers to host distributed DNS servers and... well :)
Their mother company PlusServer does support IPv6, so maybe it's a weird case of market segmentation?

TIL s4y still exists and they have reasonably priced dedicated servers (unlike Hetzner, rip).
Are they still terrible? (At least that seems to be the common sentiment, my vserver experience with them...
@nprofile1q...
Do they support IPv6 by now?
Last time I checked they still didn't (like at all), which was quite hilarious :D

quick question, anybody know how many network bridges on Linux are too many? Do you suppose 4096 are okay?
@nprofile1q... It's a linked list. You can allocate as many as you have RAM :)
... having said that, things get weird and slow after a while, but 4096 is pretty much fine. I'm running ~1500 in prod and that's totally fine.

I finally had the opportunity to test an idea: Use a linear CCD-array and the motion of a train to capture an image.
And yes, the images aren't very good as the setup was very improvised. My ModularC...
@nprofile1q... So cool! I feel like you could probably even "fix" the images if you add an accellerometer somehow :D
