It’s a long, very dumb story (involving a kid who just guessed when their graduation ceremony actually occurs then asked their parent to come, the parent who then bought non refundable tickets without verifying the date), but I’m heading to London on Friday for several days with no plans except sitting in a flat working. What are your best ideas for intersting inexpensive things to do outside the standard tourist stuff?

Spent a few days with an old college friend and their partner at a cottage on an island in a northern lake. Utterly delightful. Laughter, deep, thoughtful conversation about books, music, how we move through the world. Great food, fabulous bird watching (fall warblers moving through that none of us could ID, causing more laughter). Giant moon, stars, loon song. Refreshing and restoring.

Virtually no beans this year, very few squash and no peas. But what the hell am I going to do with 10,000 pounds of grapes?!

I let the edges go at #Area51 if something interesting comes up. Glad I left this jewelweed, had no idea Rudy throated humming birds would feed from it.
