In a post I saw this morning, the author did something that I find super annoying. It could be a Monday-morning-ism or something, but it really kinda got under my skin. I read it over and over, getting more annoyed each time. It struck me on the 4th or 5th read through that I do something similar in some of my posts. Not the same way, but close enough. I'm going to stop doing that. It's really annoying.

Two things.

First, I'm not convinced these "rouge" AI agents are actually rogue. It's a convenient excuse to avoid accountability for questionable activity. They can just throw up their hands and say, "Gosh, it wasn't us!"

Second, even if the agent acted in unintended ways, that's only possible because proper precautions weren't taken. There's always some attempt to imply agency, but agents are only programs. They're not doing something they're not allowed to do.

Yea, I'm never fucking calling it that.

I just realized today that I'm the same age now as my dad was when I was born. For the record, today is NOT my birthday. I'm just stupidly slow. My youngest is older than 10 (Not exactly 10, but younger than 20, so I'm rounding). My dad was a braver man than me. I wouldn't be wanting to start a family at my age.

I'm not sure about the whole "Gen X" of it, but the rest of this is hard for me to disagree with.

The "Pill" UI is an interesting idea, but I feel like it's low hanging fruit for a browser like @nprofile1q... to add. I already keep my UI hidden virtually all the time, and the top/bottom bars just slide into view when I mouse over. I don't know of a way to make that top bar shrink to contents (not saying it's not there), but even just that would mimic a lot of what I see in #Blanc. Seems like an easy theme to mimic in #Vivaldi.

I love when companies ask their employees questions like, "Do you believe we value you as a person?"

HELL no they don't value me as a person. I'm a tool that accomplishes work. If I can't accomplish work or they find someone else that accomplish that work better or more efficiently, they'll throw me away in a heart beat and not lose a second of sleep over it.

Is it already Sunday night? Nuts. I really need to figure out how to be independently wealthy so I can retire early.

Today I escaped my first Escape Room.

At the request of my second eldest son, I threw my horde into our vehicle and drove halfway across the greater Phoenix area to get locked in a room with no technology for an hour. The only way they would let us out is if we solve a series of puzzles.

It was actually really fun! I think we'll be doing it again. No one even complained they couldn't use their phone. I don't think they even noticed the absence. Money well spent.

The longer I work in tech the more I think a nicer cabin in the woods would be really nice.
