I don't forum much, but this was a great question about why we have both a "donate" and a "sponsor" button on the Django Project website.

I'm not a fan of burying anything under a menu. I also don't think adding a landing page that leads to both options, or defaulting to one option over the other, is a good idea either. Both are important.

I woke up to find my PR merged and deployed, giving https://www.python.org/blogs/ a fresh take and fixing the "Latest News" section on the homepage.

It was confusingly linking to Python Insider's homepage, even though it was only one of several data sources.

We were also only showing the latest five posts. Six if we include the top header, and I'd like to fix the spacing.

A++ content. I was in a call with @nprofile1q... and @nprofile1q... this week, where this topic came up again.

We looked, and I thought Django's package size was 200M bigger than it actually is. Django is only 10.9 MB compressed, which is within ~1 MB of SQLAlchemy, which is kind of impressive to think about.

So running the Django ORM doesn't quite have the same mental tax as I have assumed all of these years.

🤔 I realized tonight that I would probably use Bluesky more if I had the same muted and filtered words I already use elsewhere.

So I used Claude Code to write a small tool that keeps my filters in sync across both platforms.

It is simple, scratches a personal itch, and already makes Bluesky feel more usable for me.

It's refreshing to see someone knowledgeable use AI assisted tools to find more than 70 bug fixes for the Curl project.

Daniel has been transparent about his struggles managing the project because of bad AI usage, so this isn't coming from someone who hasn't seen it all.

Side-note: I might not quite understand how the "Django ORM feature support table" features line up with the "At-a-glance" numbers. If they are meant to be a count of the previous ✅s, they don't see to add up. MySQL had five boxes not checked, but records 17.

Do you see room to maybe highlight experimental features or third-party features as they might make their way into core, like vector fields?
