I can't believe in the year 2026 after nearly four years of using the Nostr, we must continue to speak on the differences of censorship, free speech, and moderation. Here's the perfect example and th...

I missed whatever led to this discussion, but I think we have to understand that the world around us promotes centrally controlled systems, so all of us need to regularly be reminded that freedom is worth sacrificing for. Also that freedom comes with a healthy sized dose of responsibility.

If we don't want outside control, we get to choose what we want to see, but we have to enforce that ourselves or choose the trusted filter to delegate the task. If we don't want ads, we have to figure out how to financially support the infrastructure and people around us.

Well said. Thank you. As I keep saying the work continues. I guess I should take my own advice. Thank you again.

I know very little about BIP-110, but it seems to me that a temporary change's only value is to give them time to formulate a permanent change. That failed, but there is still lots of resentment over ordinals and other such non-monetary data on the blockchain.

There's still plenty of time to work on a permanent change and on building consensus so said permachange will be accepted by a majority of miners & mining pools.

Good morning and pura vida, Nostr! Our ecosystem now has TWO apps marked as the #1 and #3 trending apps on GitHub. What a time to be alive. Go star them if you haven't yet. https://blossom.ditto.pub/...

@Mr. Cliff, B.Sc. ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ง has a point. GitHub is a single point of failure, one of the most anti-nostr things out there. At the very least, everything should have an alternative repo that is kept in ready to go state.

Not that these are Derek's or even Alex's "apps".

Today many bitcoiners are all still using on Twitter. We pay Elon for reach. Our posts are not even signed with our own keys. This is complete trust in a third party. I don't think Nostr is the solu...

Why do we need "the answer" ? Does that mean billions of people (and bots!) flooding the network with same engagement farming and reach-maxxing that started making Twitter intolerable long before Musk bought it. Isn't it enough to have a censorship-free, identity-based place for authentic discussions with real peple?

Thanks.
