One of the reasons why Samourai wallet and now to Ashigaru wallet are the best Bitcoin wallets are out there is, they force users to have a passphrase.

Forcing passphrases is just a Band-Aid, the real issue is trusting closed-source wallets like Samourai and Ashigaru, controlled by VCs and gov-backed firms.
