US Televangelist Jim Bakker who built a faith-based empire before resigning amid sex scandal, who then served time in prison for defrauding his followers in the 1980s, has died. He was 86. Bakker rebuilt his TV ministry, eventually catering to MAGA and prepper types.

Along with his wife Tammy Faye, he co-founded Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) with Paul and Jan Crouch.

After a falling-out between Jim Bakker and Paul Crouch, the Bakker founded Praise The Lord (PTL) and built their own global Christian defrauding enterprise.

Following a sixteen-month federal grand jury probe, Bakker was indicted in 1988 on eight counts of mail fraud, 15 counts of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy. Convicted, In 1989, after a five-week trial which began on August 28 in Charlotte, the jury found him guilty on all 24 counts, and was sentenced to 45 years in federal prison and a $500,000 fine. On November 16, 1992, Bakker's sentence was reduced to eight years, and, and was subsequently granted parole in July 1994, after serving almost five years of his sentence.

Bakker rebuilt his tv "ministry," and in 2015 purchased the trademark to PTL and rebranded it to PTL.

In 2020, he suffered a stroke but returned to his show several months later.

Without any notice, form platform GoFormz, which is integrated with Google Docs as a HIPAA compliant form builder and data processer, had a basic plan, did away with its basic plan and locked users out from their accounts unless they upgrade to a $499 per month plan plus $15 per month HIPPA add-on, with no ability to download, delete or manage any data, including HIPPA controls. You get a "log out" or upgrade notice. They say the data will be deleted on NOV 1st. Users got locked out after receiving an email on October 1st.

Some independent home health providers used it to manage their patients daily logs as it was recommended as safe, reasonably priced, etc. and woke up today locked out, being extorted for a larger monthly fee.

#Enshittification It appears they also integrated significantly with #GenAI, probably why they increased their prices. #AI #AITechInflation. All you get is a "send us a message" that says it may take 30 days to get a response.

Anyone who uses Google Alerts on their Android or in other #Google products, notice here lately results and notifications are coming in but the alert contents are 5, 10, 15 years old? I think their AI has been scrapping news website archives and it is misconfigured and sends the alert the day it finds it and not the actual date of the article or content in the alert. #Enshittification

I am shopping around for attorneys to sue a couple businesses over their use of AI and automated voice customer service.

Due to my Parkinson's Plus, MSA, I have speech issues and over this past month, at multiple businesses, I haven't been able to get past their AI customer service loop to speak to a human because the AI can't understand me.

I even made an #ADA request for a human worker to the AI prompt.

I am going to sue to try to force their AI to understand an ADA prompt, or offer one, to bypass the AI/voice only customer support and directly connect to a human. #AI

One issue is, I talk slow and deliberate because I have to get the words out and some phrases are slower than others and AI customer support is too impatient to wait and moves on mid-sentence, not understanding my request

If you are a #caregiver, take care of yourself. It's ok. We, the ones you take care of, understand. Friday, #DollyParton said she let her health slide for 3 years due to caring for her late husband and it caught up with her. Ultimately, she died Tuesday.

Personally, my wife skipped gynecological appointments for a couple years because she was caring for me and cervical cancer was growing and she had a long cancer battle in 2012. Recently, she put off going to the doctor for cardiac warnings and had a widowmaker heart attack in 2024.
