I gamemaster #Pathfinder RPG 1e with variant rules and I like to tweak my monsters.
I paint metal #miniatures.
I like learning about The Divestiture (of AT&T). I like pre-Divestiture telephones, though I only own one red Cortelco Kellogg 2500 Desk Telephone.
I like writing with a fountain pen, but I'm not a fountain pen collector.
I wrote a first draft manuscript but I keep procrastinating edits and further drafts.
Moved from Win10 to #Linux on 12 June 2023.

Another weekend, more #Pathfinder1e #Ustalav to share. This from 10-05 (we played on Monday again).
The shaman 5 player missed the session. The cleric 6, the eldritch scoundrel rogue 6, and the corpse hunter ranger 5 went into the haunted manor searching for the obour.
They encountered a building-spanning haunt (CR 9). They were able to neutralize it and ask it questions, but not without losing some sanity first.
Ranger hit level 6.

I hadn't used #novelWriter for awhile. I opened it recently and it updated.
A new feature (hovering preview window) led me to encounter a navigation pain point that I don't have using #Obsidian. Now I'm testing the waters of importing my project into Obsidian.
I'm not 100% committed to the switch, but I really want better file navigation than novelWriter offers. Obsidian has a Back button, file tabs, and side-by-side functional EDIT windows.
If they were more compatible I'd use both.
Oof. The mattress I've been using for several years is a hand-me-down mattress from my father. It's not great, but it gets the job done.
Yesterday my father got a new mattress. He offered me his old memory foam mattress, that he had previously used to replace the one I've been using. I took it and used it last night. My back, neck, and legs ache now, and it was super-hot too.
Switched back to the older, more traditional mattress, and looking forward to sleeping.

The mixed level 6 and level 5 party, aware of the creature in advance, moved to deal with the CR 7 #mythic dread #vukodlak that they avoided the previous session.
I thought the vukodlak was under-CRed at CR 7 but the party took it out without taking any damage. Of course they knew it was there and they came prepared.
The hardest part of the fight for them was attacking through their own spells.

I just got the craziest #scam call.
I said "Hello" in a drawn out swagger. We said 'hello' several times.
I asked if he called about phone or cable service. He said "I'm calling about your ass." He talked about anal sex. I played along.
He said he plans to quit his job today. He suggested I not answer scammers. He asked for my name; I declined, which he said he understood. I told him I had evening plans so had to go, and wished him luck in finding a new job.
I want to get back into inline skating after 20 years, which means buying new skates. I'd love to actually try on some skates, but the only place local that carries any inline skates that I can find is Dick's Sporting Goods, a chain store.
They don't carry the skates I want in-store, but they can order them. That doesn't help me try them on though.
Trying to search for an inline skate shop returns so many skateboard shops.

Does anyone use Matrix chat?
I've been on Matrix chat for years now (using the Element client) but it seems like a standard that's still waiting for its moment. I mostly don't keep the program running, but when I do open it, I see little activity.
Maybe I'm just on the wrong server because I'm using the default Matrix server.

This is my semi-regular post to declare, once again, that I like hard links.
I WANT to do incremental backups using rsync's built-in hardlinking capability, but the HDD that I have been backing up to is formatted NTFS and so far I haven't succeeded in getting rsync to do hard links on it.
I tested via ln command to verify the NTFS HDD supports hard links.
I can also make hard links with rsync on my tiny 16 GB ext4 optane drive.
I suspect human error.

I went to bed yesterday at 11 AM.
While I didn't sleep the whole time--I took a phone call, and i tossed and turned a lot, and got up several times to go to the bathroom--I didn't get up and get dressed until today after 11 AM.
Having eaten nothing for over 24 hours, my glucose reading was still higher than my desired range.
Uh, OK.
We had nearly back-to-back #Pathfinder1e #Ustalav sessions on Thursday (09/10) and Saturday (09/12).
On Thurs, the level 5 party fought a (CR 7) zombie road encounter.
Saturday, the level 5 party inquired with a local village elder about a haunting, then went to the site and retreated from a (CR 7) #mythic dread #vukodlak encounter without entering combat.
A wise choice. Either that vukodlak is under-CRed or the zombies were over-CRed.

Every three months I like to manually run TimeShift to create a quarterly snapshot. I keep the quarterly snapshots for the previous year in addition to any other system snapshots, just in case. I know I do not need to keep snapshots that old as I am unlikely to ever roll back more than a week, but I do it anyway.
I forgot to run my quarterly snapshot at the beginning of this month, so I ran it today. That is all.
