When I worked an office job, I asked my boss if I could come to work an hour early in the wintertime and also leave an hour early. Consequently, I got to arrive home at the end of the day while it was still light out. This was my goal. But then I noticed my coworkers got miserable for two weeks twice a year because they changed time, whereas it was smooth sailing for me because I didn’t. I loved it.

I thought BitTorrent already does this. Anyone can setup a node and mirror (seed) whatever they want. When a torrent is created, it’s hashed, and thus the contents cannot be altered. And when a torrent is published—and the world starts mirroring it—it cannot be revoked.

I have “Location Services” completely disabled on my iPhone, for all apps, for this reason of privacy leakage.

I will turn it on when I’m being a tourist and need my location to show on maps and such, plus I don’t mind the geotagging of my photos then. This puts me in control, and I take the responsibility of knowing when I have it turned on and when I have it turned off.

I feel like this is a response to something. Where can we find it?

Yes, this is great! But I can’t help thinking that BitTorrent solved the hosting / bandwidth / global distribution problem 25 years ago.
