Regarding tomorrow's BIP-110 activation: I expect BIP-110 will be successful. Not in achieving majority hash rate after activation, but in exposing a completely captured and controlled mining indust...

Golds competitors had a higher inflation rate. So you could store your time in gold more efficient.

But, when I can choose between 1-2% inflation and 0% inflation in a free market, why wouly I take the 2%?

I prefer to get robbed the tiniest amount possible, 0% is therefore optimal.

Only from a naive perspective. It seems simple on a napkin, but as it turns out, if you want to protect your wealth, you dont want the security of the network, the trait of it from which the entire value of your wealth is derived, to collapse. 0% does just that and you'll see very soon.

No need to let it run in the background if you don't want to. You just need to start it when you are using it's sugnatute

So their LN payments are totally shut down?

I didn't care and didn't follow the BIP-110 thing until Saturday. But I just have to say: you BIP-110 folks have absolutely lost your grip on reality. You need to calm down before you absolutely destr...

I didn't care and I'm absolutely clueless what's going on, but here me out. I know intuitively every argument on both sides and know for sure who is right und who is a retard. So listen to me and if you have another perspective you are dumb.

You'll either realize that you were retarded, or you will continue to be retarded.
Archiesta profile picture
Of course we are retarded. We came to this world retarded just like you.
You're acting as if you could perfectly predict the future, taking all the dynamic variables into account. Short story you can not.

If China, Russia, Iran, and the U.S. were genuine enemies, then one bloc could have gained an enormous advantage in the Bitcoin mining. In that case, BIP110 could very well have prevailed.

It is suspicious that no one did this.

It was very easy to predict that BIP110 would fail.

Yes. Core fucked up. Also Knots fucked up by making this a consensus issue. Knots was already getting 20% of the nodes. And many of those who didn’t switch to Knots were running older Core versi...

Thats a possibility.

But a temporary minimal softfork to get your things together would have been a step in the right direction.

This outcome is in my opinion a big hit at the soul of bitcoin. When you achieve that the principled people get ostracized and ridiculed, there is someday nobody is left who holds the line, no matter how brilliant the protocol is.

We bitcoiners thought we were the Trojan horse for the FIAT system, instead it was the other way around.

Many rational-minded spam-opposing Bitcoiners probably weighed this too and concluded that even a temporary soft fork wouldn’t have amounted to much more than virtue signaling. This was because the issue concerned relay policy, not some existential threat to Bitcoin. Education efforts about how t...

Bitcoin is hard to change. That's a feature not a bug. Adding new rules by fiat and the cover of good intentions just doesn’t work. If you want to see bitcoin used as money, use the damn thing as...

I cannot believe that people are this close minded.
Core changed without consensus so easy because of their priesthood.
This will not end well I think.
It seems that nothing man invents can withstand corruption.
So no cyberito for me.

Yes. Core fucked up. Also Knots fucked up by making this a consensus issue. Knots was already getting 20% of the nodes. And many of those who didn’t switch to Knots were running older Core versions or customizing their -datacarriersize. Doomed-to-fail BIP-110 was a deliberate controlled oppo...

These bits more clearly explain precisely what gives fiat it's value and outlines the similarities and differences with Bitcoin and fiat, notably that the value mechanism is the same. nostr:nevent1qqsyu9mvh394x3sj4tuluj539fpv2npnc9smwrxefp8u6r6qc4yzxlcpy3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumrfvfjhyarpwvkhqunfd4hhye...
