I have accidentally opened Amethyst which I will haven't uninstalled after it broke and was sending my messages to like 3 relays that no one is connected to and it got me wondering if it's still broken like that. Unlikely for me to return to Nostr but still. Curious
Just as I suspected. I'm stuck in some sort of limbo where I post mostly for myself which makes no sense as a social media platform and because there is no single source of truth then it doesn't make sense as a blog/notes taking
I'll take a break from Nostr and will check it in a couple of weeks and focus on Fesiverse and Bluesky in the meantime
If I wanted to seriously use Nostr then I suppose I would need a relay that I can write to and it would act as my archive and a source of truth. Only I could publish there but I wouldn't mind others subscribing to its events. With a proper front end the relay could literally act as a blog/archive that could be explored in abrowser
(Maybe there's a business model there for people who are too lazy to run their own relay and deal with issues related to that activity)
As is now I see that my notes go to potentially different relays every time and while I am following those relays I don't think there's a guarantee that they will be operational after a while. That means that some of my notes can disappear over time. And the purpose of taking notes is so I can go back to them. Otherwise it's just a short-term shitposting
(And BTW my notes used to go to 6-7 relays and now only 2-3 and I can't really say why because I didn't change anything in Amethyst so it's like tech-normie magic)
I don't treat Nostr seriously and I don't mind that instability but maybe there's a blind spot here
I tried it but non-English dictionaries were bad and I learned this way that I heavily optimise my writing with those. So we had to part our ways. Other than that it was amazing
