My wife Volunteered me to prep a bunch of old laptops to deliver to Ecuador on our mission trip next week. I'll have to install linux on them because some of these machines are too old for Windows 11.
I'm test driving Zorin and it has been a really good out-of-the-box ready OS.
Not much to set up, seems really easy for people who don't know much about computers.
I'm scared to ask, but does anyone have a better idea other than Zorin? Keep in mind, it has to be as user friendly as Windows or Mac. Basically, no way can I assume the terminal is an option for daily use. And it'll be hard for me to remote troubleshoot from thousands of miles away.

Fast becoming my essential RSS feeds is #Hubzilla.
@Randal Works great. I created a Privacy Group for them, so if I just want the RSS feeds, I can tap that. But it's cool to them integrated in my timeline like any other post, too.
Signed up to an RSS feed and the timeline got overwhelmed.

@Randal I put all my RSS feeds in a privacy group and put their Affinity slider all the way to the right on some it's the noisey ones.
Four days into Remote Work and they've already rolled me out to Kansas City, KS.

Okay so now #Google is saying that we'll be able to sideload apps in #Android using something called #AdvancedFlow.
This makes me feel a lot better about using it moving forward, but now I do wonder...
@realcaseyrollins ✝️ I have been watching this as well. I see GrapheneOS has partnered with Motorola for creating phones with GrapheneOS installed from the factory.
I am currently running IodeOS on a Pixel6a. But I'll want to upgrade soon. ( I really want that mobile desktop mode you can only get on Pixel 8 or higher)
One of my challenges is that my work will need me to carry a stock Android because of their communication channels. But as I move away from field work to desk work, I may be able to abandon that.

Anyone else have this feeling that Internet as we know it is coming closer to an end? Like, all it would take is a bombing of a few data centers and it's all gone. Or the hacking of a few DNS registrars and all our domains start pointing to a different ip addresses?
